I use one that goes pretty far into the mattress so no chance of it falling out. I like it. I don't leave it there all the time though. My nightly routine is put my carry gun in the safe and out comes the .45 which gets put into the bedside holster. Every morning the .45 goes back in the safe and my carry weapon goes in my pocket. I don't have kids though. I wouldn't use one if I did.

Yeah I've seen pics of those that go farther under the mattress.

If I put a gun in one it would probably stay there as a quick grab gun. You never want a bad guy to get between you and your gun, this would be really centrally located for me on the first floor.
