Blanchard, Louisiana, a small town just north of Shreveport, has a Poke Salad festival every year. It's the only one I know of. Poke salad grows wild, so it's gathered by a lot of folks in the south. Saw some growing, and all berried out, at the GA BBQ.

We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers [are] as widows. 5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest. 16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned! 21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. |

And a Southern cop - at least the ones around here - will pull out of the funeral procession and pull your butt over if you don't.

Same here, King, and Queen. It's a three day celebration.

Shucks. I must be a little southern at heart. I hold doors open for strangers and ladies; Chivalry is not dead yet.
