wv hillbilly HA HA HA I'm not quite that old. But I do hate seeing good stuff go to waste. Its one thing if you have to pay someone like me to do it for you, it defiantly adds to the expense. But your getting free advise here from me. That just saved him (if he lived here and called me) $60 for the service fee and anywhere from $75 to $100 in labor. we charge (not my prices I just work there) $25 per 15 min. And we are supposed to use book rate, which I rarely do cause its cost even more. Figure time to install part and time to defrost at least 45 min time. I tend to use book rate if the homeowners cars have liberal/Obama stickers
![]() PS And by the way, feel free to PM me anytime. That way if I don't check in for a few days I don't miss the thread. I don't mind helping out

61005988. DO NOT force the new one into defrost with a screwdriver. the new style initiates defrost by moving the thermostat handle off and on 3 times

It was maybe 5 years ago the first time I replaced that dooma... I couldn't remember how that whole cover assembly came apart, couldn't see two of the screws and about tore it up getting it out. Poor anger management! It'll be alright though once the part is replaced and all sinched back down.
But yeah, you don't buy a new car just because the alternater goes bad. Unless maybe your Donald Trump. Me and the wifes first washer/dryer set was Maytag and by replacing a part now and then they gave 20 years of great service. There was actually just one time that I was unable to diagnose and repair my problem because it was too simple. I finaly called a repair man out, he went outside and straitened out the vent. It got bent and the dryer couldn't breath! Had a solenoid go out once and I would've had to order it so I bought one from the sprinkler section at Home Depot, installed and good as new. Gotta wonder how many people throw away another hard earned $1000 every time some little doodad goes bad on an appliance. Geeze Louis... We got it even better now, with the internet and the Appliancedude!!! Thanks again budy! |

Ok, is that the freezer handle? There's one for fridge and one for freezer. Going to go get the part now.

I used to work for a dealer and we would get a lot of appliances that were easy fixes. people just tossed them rather than trying to fix them.
And I believe its the one on the bottom. which ever that one is. if you look at your cover its the one that says off or 0. Oh and your welcome ![]()

Freezer supplies the cold for the refrigerator side, if you have cold you have to figure why it's not getting to the other side. ![]() Not a bad idea to have TWO thermometers, one on each side to determine if your unit is really running correctly....and economically ($$$). |

Yeah I'm not one of them. You'll notice by the time stamp over 5 hours had gone by when I made that post. The freezer was already putting out ice but the fridge didn't feel a bit colder yet. I know why though. This time I had it shut down for longer than usual with the doors wide open so the intire box, insulation and all was warmed through and through. So it took a long time for the medicine to take.

Plus with two thermometers you can really zero on how the unit is working. If the frig part isn't getting cold, see what the freezer temp is in degrees. Also helps you correctly set a good working freezer and frig to the proper settings. |

Cool thread. A couple years ago, I went out to the shop and I heard a sparking noise coming from my deep freezer. I was worried about FIRE. I unplugged it, pulled it out so I could access the back. Plugged it back in, turned the lights out so I could locate the sparking. None to be found!
![]() ![]() So I pull the back panel and discover a mouse had made a little nest next to the fan and it found a bit of plastic bag as material for his little house, and it was hitting the fan causing the noise, which really did sound like sparking! |
