Right in my backyard. We have a rifle range with targets out to 400yds and a trap range. I spend more time sitting at the bench loading shotgun shells for the kids that shoot trap with us than I do shooting.

If its nice out I usually go to Deer Creek State Park, about 30 miles south of me. In the winter I go to an indoor range also south of me. Last weekend Todd51 invited me down to his private range, and we had a grand old time. He has a real nice set up down thier, and I can't wait to go again.

Have to drive out to desert, or to the mountains. Both being about 45 minutes away, where you're alone. There are closer shooting spots right outside of county line, but a bunch of idiots bring trash there and it's not safe or organized. The ranges here cost $14-$20 per person...

Most of the area around me is fed land annd we do our skeet there . And im in the middle of 2 nice gun clubs for pistol or rifle shooting. all in about a 10 min drive from home. Cant beat the area for places to go. But like some of you said the meatheads are trashing it all up.

If I am going to put a very few rounds through one, I go out in the back yard where I can get up to 15 or 20 yards. Most of the time I go to the range that I am a member of that has some great shooting areas.

Nice range Moody. The website for my clubs range needs some help. The next time I go I'll try and get some decent pictures and post them on here. The main range (100
yds) is coming along, but the longer one (out to 600 meters) is being worked on.

When I was a youngster we would go out to my dad's friends farm or me and my uncle would go to various spots that he knew of . When I was 14 we moved to the family farm and I could pretty much shoot wherever and whenever I wanted as long as it was safe. Up until 1 yr ago the only time I got to shoot was when I went back to the farm. We are now rentin a house on 2 acres and nothin but farmland fer 1.5 miles behind it then a dirt road and more farm land. I got permission to put up a "range" its 100 yrds therebouts from the roadway to my backstop which is three pallets full of dirt and manure. Today er yesterday I got to use the police shootin range just outside of the fence from where I work on the south side of town. Went down there picked up some trash and used it fer targets threw it in the truck and then away when I got done.

Back field range with targets set up at varying ranges out to 100 yards. Not elaborate or pretty but it suits me and it is handy.

If you live rural or have great gun loving neighbors, build a bench and your own targets; haven't been to a public range in 25 years and shoot all the time.

I have a 100 yard range in my backyard where I can run out and shoot, or chrono new loads. For longer range, or to shoot one of my full autos, I have to go a few miles to BLM land. I can shoot anything out there, and I have marked off ranges up to 600 yards. We have the usual problems with tash left behind by slob shooters out there too.

Here we are at 400 yards with the .30 Browning.

I shoot in my backyard when the possums and raccoons are getting into my horse feed .... the rest of the time I make the 10 minute drive to the local gun club . The club has a half-dozen ranges for specific types of shooting.

The top two photos are the local F.O.P.A range at the Lodge. I like to shoot there and the cost of membership is low, and it's about ten minutes from the house, but the range is somewhat limited. Only one distance can be shot at a time, by one person or small group, and there are time limits.

The second two photos are of a beautiful semi-indoor range about 35 miles North of me at a place called Roush Lake. Paper targets only with a range master in charge. But, only cost 4 dollars to shoot all day, at this time. The center lanes are 100 yards, with 25 yard pistol lanes to the right, and 50 yard rifle, or pistol lanes to the left.

This link is for a "Conservation Club" that I belonged to for about eight years, that offers up Skeet shooting, and a 50- 200 yard multiple station rifle range, and several 20-50 yard pistol bays. I may be joining it again soon. It's about 15 minutes from the house. http://deer-creek.net/

A local gun shop has plans on breaking ground in the spring for a large indoor shooting complex about ten minutes from the house. I hope their plans go well.

PLEASE don't tell me the BWCA has gone to hell! We did a trip when I was in the scouts, Don Beland's if I remember right. That was the greatest trip of my life and still have fond memories of that, even though the bears ate our food and we lived off spam and jelly for a couple days. This is so sad to hear!

Not to hijack, so my range is 400' behind my shop in the woods. Rimfire and handguns to keep the neighbors happy, high power at the range about ten miles away.
