NY Post story currently running on Drudge Report. There are two diesel generators (800KW capacity), with a third unit in reserve, running 24/7 to provide power for the media's coverage of Sunday's NYC Marathon. Their combined output is said to be enough to power 400 of the homes that're now blacked out. Governor Cuomo has advised the populace not to panic - good luck with that one, and what's his name down in DC has advised those affected to stay tuned on the internet for advice and instructions, apparently unaware that those affected are without power and their computers are probably sleeping with the fishes. But hey, if you've got a battery or steam-powered TV you'll be able to catch the NYC Marathon!

The locals need to block the route in protest.
