Default Savage rifle

i have found this Savage SPORTER 22LR SS#119006 - metal butt plate W/ SVG. i can't find model # because an old Wards scope mounted over some writing. i can't seem to locate it in the blue book because i don't know the model number.
any comments, ideas or helpful hints would be appreciate.

Can you take off the scope so the writing under it can be read?

Since it is marked "Sporter" it is probably a Model 23 A. Old catalogues bear this out. Best I can do without pictures.
