I carry at home and when I go out.Sometimes openly and sometimes concealed.Depends what Im weaing and where im going as to conceal or open. But always carry except when I sleep. As Ive said before my mom and dad are wary of guns.My dads best friend is a retired county sherriff deputy and then elected sherriff for 8 years.I was carrying my gun when I went to mom and dads one day and mom says I wish you wouldnt carry that thing and John spoke up and said hell of alot of good it does him if he needs it and dont have it.I gotta a big kick out of that because they think what he says goes and he backed me up.lol

The simple answer is no. There is usually one in the room that I may be in.

My brother and sister are into drugs. They make them, deal them, do them, and have robbed for them. I have nothing to do with them.

Seriously, if things ever get weird...I have two LEO's four houses away and three more 1/2 block away. County Fire Chief across the street. Next door neighbors are both armed (husband and wife). Dude and brother across the street are both gun-nuts and hunters. Guy behind me has class 3 license and plays with his toys often. Me, I'm the neighborhood biker that's also an urban missionary.

I never carry while doing the Lord's work.

At home, and off duty, well that's different. The wife thinks I'm a bit nuts, but she sleeps like a baby knowing she's safe and protected by the Lord, Mr. Glock, Mr. Remington, and yours truely.

There's always one not too far away, but not usually on my person. But here's some food for thought...

We live in a typical cookie-cutter suburban neighborhood, medium houses, small lots. Fairly quiet, rarely any criminal behavior, usually juvenile petty theft. Pretty trouble-free as neighborhoods go.

A while back my wife and I walked my sister-in-law and her daughter out into the front yard to see them off after a visit. It was mid-afternoon and there was no one else visible up and down our street. While we were talking, this large Rottweiler appears out of nowhere and comes loping up the street, right up the sidewalk, right across the front yard in a bee-line for our small group. We had never seen the dog before and had no idea where it had come from.

Now, as it turns out, the dog was friendly and had gotten out of an open gate at a house up the street. He'd headed straight for the first folks he saw, just to make friends I guess. But afterward I was standing there thinking, "What if that big damned Rotty HADN'T been friendly? Here I am, Mr. Prepared, Mr. Safety and Security, standing ten yards away from a house full of weapons, and if that dog had gone after one of us I'd have been standing there with my johnson in my hand, as stupid and helpless as a liberal Democrat.

I guess you just never know what the day will bring.

I was thinking about one of those NAA .22WMR mini revolvers that I could just drop in my front jeans pocket when I'm out in the garage and junk.

Anybody have one of those?

Heck of an instructive story.
I keep "bear repellent" OC spray close at hand in my garage where I hang out all the time just in case an unfriendly animal wanders up.
Loose dogs have wandered up plenty of times...but they was just lookin' for a friend.

The same sort'a thing happend to us last Friday. Wifey pulls up in driveway and I let out her two tiny pooches ( 4.6 and 5.4 pounds) like we do every day. They run to greet their momma and then I hear the wifey yell Oh No!!! I stepped off the landing and both dogs are making a bee line to me then I see a very large black lab run around her car towards them.

I grabbed his collar and hung out with him till wifey and pooches were in the house, then escorted the lab outta the yard. Had he not been friendly the story would have ended badly.

Like in your story, I was very grateful the dog was friendly. I was mostly unprepared for what had happened only having a folding knife.

I always carry at home. Just the other day some Obama supporter knocked on my door to give me the vote Obamma speech. Halfway through he noticed my side arm and abruptly thanked me for my timeand walked away. I normally wouldn't open the door but instead yell through the window that I am not interested but I could tell what his intention was and thought it would be fun to see his reaction or if he even noticed the 1911 on my hip. No harm in exercising my right to bear arms

I live way out in the country, no crime to speak of. Almost 100yds to the gate on the drive way. It's 6:30AM, December, and well below freezing. 4 dogs in the house that need to go out. I open the door, and as they go out, they become agressive. As I step out the door, there to my right, at the end of the porch, the dogs have 4 men surrounded! One has a shoval, and is threatening my dogs. I holler at him, and when he looks up at me he's staring into the barrel of a gun! Turns out that the 4 guys were there to replace my gas line. So it was all OK. But you never know! The guy with the shovel later asked me if I would have shot him, and I told him that as far as I was concerned he was trespassing, and threatening my property, and that yes, I would have shot him had he hit one of my dogs with the shovel. I hope they learned a lesson, I know I did. The next time it happened it was surveyers on my land, where they had no right to be! I am, and will always be armed at all times!

I've been wearing a shoulder holster the last 2 days...I noticed when I carried to the store on Sunday it felt uncomfortable so I need to wear it nonstop a bit so I don't notice it much...other than that, there's always a loaded firearm within arms reach...sleeping, watching movies, at our bar, garage/shop, etc. One too many home invasions. At one point there was an armed home invasion 3 miles away (we live in a rural neighborhood)...the first thing they did was kill the handicapped man's seeing eye dog. Haven't had one very far away since that.

For many, many years now, I have been carrying 24/7/365. I have my most recent pocket gun (Sig P238 .380 7+1) with me at all times and when I am in bed, it is there as well.

Also when I am simply staying around the house, most of the time, I have my loaded Taylor/Uberti .45 Colt SAA well within reach.
