Default Question about shooting sign.

I dont know which forum section I should put this in so I just posted it on General Discussion.I was in a restaurant and I seen this sign that said "NO TRESPASSING, Violators will be shot and survivors will be shot again" . I want to put this sign on my gate to my farm. Is this legal?

Sure, I have a sign in front of my house that has a silhouette with holes in it and it says "nothing inside is worth dying for".

Thanks, Im going to buy it tommorow . The restaurant agreed to sell it to me because they actually have two of the metal signs and I offered them $50 for one because I just wanted the sign so bad.

I'm a retired gunsmith, not a legal eagle, but just to be absolutely, definitely, postively legal (which I'm sure it is), I'd make absolutely, definitely, positively sure the sign's inside your property line. Your property, your sign, you can do whatever you want with it. Anyone inside the property line uninvited is a potential tresspasser - assuming they're uninvited and you don't want them there, and they were suitably warned.

There legal. The only thing is, and I know it's not right just a matter of fact is IF you ever have to shoot someone on your property, expect the prosecutor to use it against you. I've heard of it happening before.

It's kinda like the beware of dog signs. If you have those and the dog bites, they are going to say you knew it was dangerous and didnt do anything about it, so therefore it is your fault even if the dog was provoked. So put a smiley on the sign so you can say it was a gag..... It's harder to get you if it is humor(even if it aint really..... )

i think if you check your state laws , you can not shoot a person for trespasssing
i remember my dad telling me he was shot, in the 40s for trespassing .
a woman in an upstairs window shot him as he was going through a fence to ask directions where he was at .
he returned fire hitting the woman in the face with a load of #4s.
it went to court and he was awarded a settlement for being shot in the back. no charges where pressed against dad.
you can post most anything on your property, does that make it legal? i dont know
i do know if you have a sign that says beware of dog , even if it is one of those little lap dogs, your telling the public you have a vicious dog. i know for a fact about that one

i can vouch for that,, had my dog take a BIG chunck out of an arm that was reaching over the fence trying to steal one of the kids bikes,,
when the cops got there,, (he said he was attacked on the sidewalk 20ft away from the fence) one of the cops told me to take my gaurd dog sign down and hide it so no one else would see it cause if we got to court it would be used to say i knew my dog was vicious !!!! he actually went and got the guy and asked him how the dog could reach 20ft to bite him,, report was dismissed as mistaken report..

I think I would rater have a simple "No Trespassing" sign just to keep lawyers off me. I handle further reinforcement verbally. if compliance doesn't follow then...

A simple hand lettered sign that say "Trespassers will be composted" works well too.

Post Re: Question about shooting sign.

My neighbor has a sign that say TRESPASSERS WILL BE BURIED IN UNMARKED GRAVES.
He has had this up for years and never gotten any grief from it.

You are in Texas. You don't even have to post a sign. You trespass, you are fair game. I like the sign, seen even more blatent signs around here.

Another good one is "If you are caught here tonight, you will be found here in the morning."
