Can't get 69 grain .223 SMK over here anywhere. One dealer told me the US is making life difficult because the UK's lax immigration laws are giving too many terrorists assylum in this country.
If that's the case, the US doesn't consider the strict vetting anyone who gets a firearms certificate has to go through. The police should be able to sus out anyone who has terrorist leanings in the interview prior to giving out the FAC, and they would never legally get close to a gun. |

The sudden unavailability of primers is the typical hoarding that goes on whenever a Dem president is elected.
I can find plenty of primers in my area, because I know where to look. Some research on your part should do the same for you.

Yea well only one gun store in my area sells or ever carried primers. Their normal price has always been $48 for 1,000 small pistol primer plus tax. $52 **** that I do not support that store anymore. I am scared to even see what they sell it for now.

@$97/thousand here for CCI primers at my local gun store; @$55/thousand if I get them over the internet; then I have to pay another @$40 for the hazmat shipping cost per shipment. Then I have to make sure I would be at home the day the shipment comes, or go collect it from the depot...

I always check Grafs.....
and others for 5000.... especially for Magtech primers $137 to your house at the moment http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/...roductId/23592 and if you can afford 10K...15K..... $21/1000 plus hazmat Unless I get super technical on a super round..... any small pistol primer has always been fine.

BlackEagle, I need to start on pistol primers as most of mine are rifle primers. So why are they double? Is it taxes or is everything double over there? I must be in a race with CptTango. I'm just a little in front of him right now, I think. I have two boat boxes full, over 25K; started stocking up after 2008 election but now, sure glad I did. I'm going to have to take a picture and post.

The hazmat fee is not bad when you buy in bulk. I recently ordered 12,000 primers and 8 pounds of powder, with only a 1 time hazmzat fee of $27.50 and the other $15 in shipping i paid for was for the other items as well.

For a lot of things like technology, just take the price in $ and substitute a £. The numbers are the same but the exchange rate is about $1.60/£.
Many things like primers are imported from the US, so we have the transportation costs and import tarriffs. Most things are more expensive because we have big government. Here in the UK there is a national VAT of 20% that is automatically added to the price of most things (some foods are exempt, as is children's clothing). No sales tax to add on. The price on the packet is what you pay, including VAT. The VAT goes into a government budget black hole that is used to pay EU dues and fines, and entitlements to politicians and other terrorists and leaches on society. It also goes (along with our income tax) toward the National Healthcare System. The price of fuel (gas and diesel) is between 70-80% tax. Our heat and electricity bills have gone up significantly because of government's demands for green energy. There is also a difference in mentality. In the US, Places like Golden Corral succeed by making a little profit off lots of sales. As the Scots say, "Many a mickle maks a muckle". Restaurants and other places over here go for making a large profit from a few sales. While we have fast food restaurants and very expensive places to eat, there are relatively few places like Olive Garden or Applebees where you can get a reasonable meal at a reasonable cost, unless you go to a pub (which I don't do much). My local gun shop may be slightly more expensive but I try to support him as much as possible. |
