Very nice. The model 41 is my favorite .22lr pistol.

Thanks for the comment on the 41. I already have a 7 inch model 41 and I wanted a 5 1/2 heavy barrel so I bought this one. They are excellent guns and I wanted one that was like new. My 7 inch 41 is a great shooter and it's about a 93% gun with some blue wear.

I just won a auction for a Model 41 with the 5 inch sport/field barrel. I'll post a pic when it arrives.

I purchased a Model 41 today at Cabelas's in Dundee Michigan. The gentleman said he had a model 41, 51/2 Barrel, With Box & never fired. That's what the man said. Five day money back guarantee. $800.00.
New ones are $1300.00 & a 10-12 month wait.

I called S&W & it was made in Feb, 1996.
Ships next Monday to Lakewood Colorado.

Renee, those 41's a great guns and beautiful to shoot or just look at. That seems like a very good price from what I have seen offered at the local shows. You get what you pay for in most guns. I personally would rather have an older one than a new one.

Thanks for the reply.
The date is correct. It was shipped February 5, 1996 to Plymouth Mass. .
The 41 is getting hard to find in great shape & below $1000.00.

I'll see what the 41 looks like next week. & decide.

What a shame B.O. got elected again. Looks like more layoffs to follow because of the Health care. Sorry to get off topic.

I received my model 41 on Tuesday & took it out for a test drive yesterday.
It was as advertized & I'm very pleased how it shoots, the looks & fit..
Had many F.T.F. with the newer Remington Standard Velocity that I thought was so good.
The Golden Eagle Match had one F.T.F.
The CCI. Standard Velocity had Zero F.T.F. & the most accurate.
They all feed & rejected with out any issues.
Extremely smooth trigger & action. It also had a White looking Gizmo on the recoil spring. I believe it's a Brake. Never seen one before.
thanks for the help,
R.

FWIW:

I "stumbled" into a nice Model 41 yesterday.. I was selling a very nice 1975 Marlin 39 (original golden), asking $550.00 and the gentleman who came to see it asked me if I had any interest in a "trade"..

My initial response was "no thanks", but then I said what do you have?

When he said a S&W Model 41 I was quick to tell him to bring it along and we'd "see"..

He liked my Marlin 39A, and I was pretty taken with his Model 41, so after we shot both (I have a private range on our property) we decided an equal trade would make us both happy, so we traded, even.

He was the original owner, and has the original box (which he will bring me when he comes over the weekend so we can do a little plinking together).

I've been shooting the Model 41 off and on all day, it it's "sweet"..... I really like it, and the only rimfire target pistol I've ever had to compare it to was a High Standard (Hamden) Match Trophy a couple of decades ago, and I already know I like the Model 41 better.

So, a good horse trade... He's happy, I'm more than happy...

I paid $450.00 for the rifle two years ago, was willing to part with it for $550.00, so I'd say I have $550.00 in a very nice Model 41.

Yea.

Jesse

P.S. My serial number is: 775XX Any clue as to born on date?
