What make is that?... The receiver looks a lot like "High Standard", or maybe "Sears" made by High Standard. Second guess would be Winchester.

Even an ugly old model 12 winny is better than whats being made today. Those were some very slick actions.

A local pawn shop has one like that right now for $150. Everyone handles it, but no one has bought it yet. It's a Win. but I'm not sure it's a model 12. It's heavy enough that I figured it would tame some of the recoil.
If the zombies come, I may wish I had it.

Only other thing im doin to it is adding sling swivel studs so i can sling it. Other than that.. Firefighter shares my sentiments on it. I love the look of the old rusted pitted metal. And im rather proud of the way the pistiol grip came out. I worked at it until i had it matched back up to the fore-end.

I cut the stock and started out contouring the grip on the belt sander. once i had it close to the shape I wanted I worked it down starting with 60 grit til I got it to 220. then I attached it, somewhat permanently to the reciever and made a new stock screw for it, then filled the hole with epoxy and sanded it smooth. then I aged the wood with good ol fashioned elbow grease and scotchbrite after applying un-diluted BC walnut stain until it was as dark as the fore stock.

The metal i cleaned with rem oil and a scotchbrite pad. and a wire brush for the harder to reach parts.

My fav guns are the ones i find or get for free that everyone else has abandoned. I have a grand total of 8 bucks in this shotgun and about 5 hours of hard labor. And it slings buckshot just as good as a mossberg 500 ZMB pumpgun.. And much better built IMO.

I had a pistol grip Win 1300 defender a good while back and after trying to aim it with a '000' buck load I had 'Winchester' printed across my top lip from the medallion grip screw cap on the rear of the pistol grip.. Trust me.. hip it, and get good at point shooting. Course with a street howitzer, if you can point and hold on.. youre golden..

very nice!

reminds me of an 12g autoloader ( no name brand ) that I got for 55$ off a buddy. he had dropped it into a lake fishing and pulled it right back out... but the wood got discolored and the laquer came off it. in his xzeal to clean it he removed a good big to the blueing or blacking.. makes a nice 'truck' gun

it was inthe drink for maybee 30 seconds. my guess is he could have taken the furniture off and dried and wiped metal down with alcohol and it would have been fine at the end of the day.

he cleane dit till it was cosmetically ruined though....

still.. yours was free.. hard to beat free!

NICE

I got a Winchester ranger in the closet ive had for years that was free too. It is a parts gun tho. its missing a couple of small pieces of the action that are out of stock at Numrichs. Maybe someday ill finish it up or find the parts anyway. It is an autoloader that has the recoil system and springs forward of the reciever under the handguard, so it can be made short as well with a pistol grip. I think it would be cool to have an autoloader street howitzer.
