Default 308 Group @ 150 yards

Well, we went out today and I was trying to get the scope on the .308 right............this is a pic of the grouping at roughly 150 yards. It may not look like much, but this was done resting the front gas-block on a towel folded several times......so a semi steady rest. I would love to get it in a good gun rest and shoot it, then see what group it has.

This is a Rock River 308 LAR8 with a 26" SS bull barrel....

Not bad. But for future reference dont rest the Gas blcok or any part of a rifles barrel when shooting. Rather rest the back end of the float tube, pull the rest in toward you and get comfortable. Dont fold the towel, roll it up and use 2 if needed. Sleeping bags make wonderful shooting rests..

Good shootin ! It'll only get better from here and that's a great start. Ditto what Josh said about the gas block and rest.

10-4 brother. I need to try and find something like some empty "lead shot" bags that I can fill up and use as a rest.

Take and old pair of pants and cut the legs out of them. Sew one end shut an d fill it with airsoft BBs or small plastic beads from the hobby section of walmarts. Then just sew the other side shut..

Okay, if you all like the .308, then tell me if you think it is better than the .270 for bambi blasting.

I like it because it (mine take 7.62x51 and .308) will be easier to find in a SHTF scenario.

The .270 and .308 will kill bambi just about the same IMO......the real question is which one will reach out and touch Bambi the furthest and make that kill shot.

I love killing bambi! with my .308 of course... mow them down like grass, wink wink...

Very nice group there, was that Federal Gold Medal Match ammo? just to clarify, thanks!

That is correct. I will be shooting again this Sunday and will try to get a better grouping together by using my bi-pod. I need to adjust it to the left a bit..... and I want it to be about an inch high at that range.

Cool, thanks; I figured it probably was by the handwriting but just wanted to make sure.

I need to buy some, all I have is reloads; want to have some factory ammo on hand and the FGMM ammo seems to be very good stuff.

Are you using a parallel zero?

On the ground not so much of a problem but on the bench I find bipod bounce to much for really good accuracy. I have made sand bags using rice, dried corn, dried peas, sand and #8 shot and so far the only one that made me happy was biting the bullet and buying a Caldwell rest.

Makes me look like a much better shooter than I probably am.

Pretty good shooting no matter what you used for a rest.
