Default CHEMICAL WARFARE AGENT CONCERNS...

Reading and hearing about the government forces in Syria preparing nerve agent SARIN for use against rebel forces...Mixing was the term used and I had to go back almost 50 years to recall information that we taught about the 'mixing' processes...these mixing processes took place when an arty round was fired:

Binary Chemical Weapons

Binary chemical weapons mix two, separate, relatively non-toxic chemicals in flight to create a toxic chemical agent.

GB Binary
Methylphosphonyl difluoride (DF) is initially located in one canister, while a mixture (OPA) of isopropyl alcohol and isopropyl amine is located in a separate canister. When the weapon is fired (or otherwise delivered), a disk between the canisters ruptures, and the two components react in flight to produce GB.

GD Binary
Methylphosphonyl difluoride (DF) is initially located in one canister, while a mixture of pinacolyl alcohol and an amine is located in a separate canister. When the weapon is fired (or otherwise delivered), a disk between the canisters ruptures, and the two components react in flight to produce GD.

Default Re: CHEMICAL WARFARE AGENT CONCERNS...

Chances are you may ponder a moment as you read about these killer nerve agents...the other side of the world, you comment...Diaper-Headed Crazies will use these exotic chemicals against their own country's protesters...One moment, HAIRY-LEGGED AMERICAN CITIZEN....not chances are, but a positive conclusion that you have insecticides/rodenticides in and around your home or garage that are chemically identical in formulation to nerve agents....Read the label and know the any organo-phosphate compound is chemcially the same as the warfare agents...realize in your calculations that any material capable of killing bugs, rats, and other of natures creatures, can and will harm you..Lots of the product labels will mention the antidote as being ATROPINE...There's a story my school used to relate about the reason GERMANY and the NAZIS didn't use their newly developed SARIN and SOMAN nerve agents against the Allied Forces in WWII was that German Agents from New Jersey reportedback to Germany that DOW CHEMICAL was manufacturing organo-phosphate compounds...thus, wrongly reported, for the American chemical plants were producing the insectides and rodenticides and it was felt that kept Hitler from using his bountiful stock of killer agents...Following WWI, when terrible chemcial warfare was waged against troops in the trenches, that type of warfare had been outlawed on a world-wide scale...Chief

How many dumb people have Amonia and Bleach stored together under their kitchen sinks. How many dumb people have tried mixing them in an effort to get things especially clean and white??

How many stupid Auto Mechanics were smoking while charging Freon-12 into leaking A/C systems?

It's what you don't know that can kill you.
