I have a Winchester 37 steelbuilt that was my grandfather's. It is hard to close. The ejector comes in contact with the shell and brads it when the gun is forced closed. It fires and ejects fine. Is there an adjustment for this or should I just file the back of the ejector down?

remove the barrel, is the ejector lip flush with the chamber or protruding over?

@Helix_FR That's part of the problem. I haven't been able to remove the barrel. Is there a trick to it?

When I open the barrel and look down the inside, the ejector is flush with the chamber.

forend on them is a wedge type lock. grab the end of the forend closest to the muzzle and pull down. it will be hard at first then it will pop free.

It came right off. Thanks. The ejector is actually about 1/32" below the chamber.

When the ejector it pushed in, it is above the level of the chamber by 1/32".
