Another of my dreams-in-iron, six shot pepperbox, .22 RF, junk rifle barrel reworked, the rest from shop junk box.

Ejector is a rod that pulls out of the right butt. The decor inlays are cutouts from a damaged pewter plate. Grips wood is hackberry a common hardwood here in OK.

My Pseudo-Paterson -- started out life as a '49 Pocket but had its brass grip frame melted off in a house fire. Rest of the work done from pictures back in the 1960s before repro Pats become common. Grip is ivory I brought back from Africa ca. 1951. I had a lot of fun with it at gun shows. My Son has it now.

Hard to stop when you get started --- but for now, guns on my office wall --

Actually Avon bottles, that came with cologne in them. Below is a pot metal working model of a Colt SAA.

Are Full Auto Colt 1911s Unusual Enough?

Full Auto 1911 Colts. Back in the 1930s there were three, maybe more, who were re-working 19lls to full auto. One in Texas supplied Dillenger and other bad actors of the time with them, prosecuted by never convicted. Colt made at least one and a West Coast enrepreneur maker was put out of biz by the 1933 full auto ban law.

Unusual or at least different from the way I found it. At a gun show in Okla City 1982 for $140 this tired S&W .44 Special Triple Lock. I gave it all the TLC I could and made it more presentable.

Unusual for me is one of only two I have engraved on guns other than my own. Below a project I did 25 years ago for a friend, ex-US Navy officer, on his WW2 issued. Gun was perfect. Collector value ruined but a cherished heirloom in his family.

I'm impressed by your engraving skills! I wish I could do things like that.

In honor of your work, I have attached is an image of an old Webley .25 inlaid with gold and sold by Manufrance around 1910 or so. (I think your work is better)....

.45Auto - Thanks, beautiful little Webley. About 30 years ago I engraved anything that stood still long enough but over time with dis-use and age it's about slipped away. As my GFather said "better to be a has-been than a never was". lol

mesinge2 - I like the French automatic revolver. Wish I had one.

a dealer at a local show has one.. I see it all the time. I've resisted the temptation to flip it's paper tag over and see the cost. that's why I'm looking for a baseline to see if I need to just forget about it.

another guy has a liberator, with box and dowel rod. Iknow he wants 4-5K for it.. so I just walk wide around his booth..

SAVAGE .45 AUTOMATIC - 200 were made for U.S. Gov't trials competing with the Colt that led to selection of the Colt being developed into the 1911 adopted by the U.S. Army. Savage lost due to many problem during the trials while Colt had very few. Savage sold them on the open market when returned by the Gov't., never put into commercial production. Something of a 'holy grail' to collectors, now worth many thousands.

Here's one somewhat unusual, made up of pieces of at least six guns. The frame a Colt 1917 .45ACP, the cylinder a Colt 1909 .45 Colt, the barrel from a Colt .45 SAA of 1880s, side plate not original, innards various, grips mine of ebony & ivory, my engraving and nickeled by Reliable Electro Plating. Eye a US made synthetic ruby.

A Colt, somewhat unusual, an un-marked experimental Colt in unfired condition with letter from Colt with about all the info we have on it.

It may be an experimental but it sure worked out well, a great piece to own. I'm S&W guy but I'll put my Officers Match up against any K frame Smith.

Maybe not unusual firearms, but unusual conversions for target shooting.
