i recently inherited a savage 30 30 bolt action rifle. i know nothing of this rifle besides it was produced before serial numbers were required. the gun is in excellect condition and is equipped with a lymans peep sight. any information about this rifle or its value would be appreciated.
the barrel reads as follows savage arms corporation chicopee falls, mass. usa proof tested cal.30-30

Probably the Model 325 (possibly a model number on the barrel? no?).
Immediate precursor of the Model 340. Sells in the $150-$200 range.

thank you for your response. this rifle has no serial or model number. im being told that this rifle was made before these requirements were necessary.

Correct, but most 325/340 rifles have the model number either on the barrel or on the receiver.
