loading 30-30 speer pt. - The Firearms Forum

Looking for data to load the 30-30 in a speer point bullet. I have a single shot rifle. Can anybody help. Thanks

That topic has come up before so I know there is some knowledge about it floating around. One of the bullett stuffers will be along with an answer.

Which bullet weight were you thinking of loading? Normal for 30-30 is 150 and 170 gr flat points for tube guns. Since you have a single, spire points would be good. I can look in my manuals when I get home. Let me know what weight you would like.

For my Savage Mod 340 bolt gun, I've had real good luck with the Hornady 130 spitzer loaded with 36.0 gr of Hodgdon Varget and a standard Winchester WLR primer.

I used 130 in my Marlin lever. I think they were BTHP. They really ruined a lot of ground hogs day.
