Since the other site's forums are not working I thought I would ask the experts here.
I am considering placing an order for a CMP Garand now that I qualify. The question is: what is the best choice Garand in service grade to order? The purpose for aquiring a Garand is to be a poor man's collectors piece and occassional target shooter. Thanks.

A word of warning: The Garand they sent me a couple of years ago was a piece of junk, an H&R with lousy bore, stock and finish. Cost me over $400 plus the notary charge on my application. Was luckily able to get rid of it for almost what I paid. I notice there are plenty of Garands at various gun shows selling for what mine cost, and they are in nicer condition. If I were you I would buy one from a private party where you can see what you are getting.
