Default P 38

I have a P 38 and I would like to know a little bit about it. On the left side of the slide it has P.38...the letters byf over the number 44...and 6393 a. On the left side of the main frame it has a symble that looks like three lines stacked on top of each other with something in the middle of it and under that is W a A 135. Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

It's a 1944 model, made by Mauser Werke A.G., Oberndorf-am-Neckar. The Waffenamt marking of 135 is correct for that factory.

I see you have alot of knowledge about c&r guns. But your bargaining skill, that is a little suspect. It is not for sale, I was just curious.... Thank you

byf 44 is one of the most common P.38 pistols.

Value depends on condition:

98% - $600
95% - $550
90% - $500
80% - $450
70% - $425

For reference, you can go to SOG's website. http://www.southernohioguns.com

They just got in a batch of P38's with original markings (most likely Russian captures). They're selling for $539 as I recall. But of course the factory codes will be random, and condition will vary as well. But their price seems to be in the 90-95% range that Xracer stated.
