I used Speer GOLD Dots when I carried my .38. they are a jacketed Hollow Point. Well tested ammo. I think anything but ball ammo is good, I carry Cor-Bon Pow'r'balls and Speer Gold Dots in my .45.I think any thing that will efficiently exchange the engergy with expantion and not over penetrate should suffice.
I'm sure a avid .357 shooter will come along and give some better advice than mine so hang in there ![]()

I have my CCW and carry a Ruger SP101, 2 1/4" barrel loaded with Remington .357 125 grain SJHP. Old round but has a great history on the street. Other rounds equally as good or possibly better: Federal 125 grain Classic JHP (old round also, but with a good street record). CorBon 125 JHP's also enjoy a good reputation. Newer rounds with fewer street results, but have a high potential as SD rounds are Corbon Powerball and DPX as well as Federal 135 Hydrashoks. If Self Defense is your goal, then ANY of the above shouldn't let you down if you do your part.
