I’m looking at the Ruger Vaquero w/ the bird’s head grip to be a companion gun for my new 7.5” Blackhawk. Doe’s anyone have any experience with the new bird’s head grip? I know it’s not completely historically correct, but neither is the transfer bar in Rugers.

I am also looking for a new rig for both pistols. The bird’s head probably in a cross draw position. I’m not looking for fancy floral, just a quality cowboy/ field rig. Any suggestions on manufactures?

the message board at www.sigunner.com. That board is full of Ruger experts and they are no strangers to the birds head grip. The short version: Fine gun, grips handle recoil very well.

OH, and tell them I sent you.
