Question Taurus 1911

Has anyone fired the Taurus PT-1911? My local shop is supposed to get one in sometime next week, and the owner said he would hold it for me if I wanted it,the price is right, and from what I've read it sounds like a good gun. Anyone recommend it?

AKfan:

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Taurus. I waited over a year for the release of their copy of the Colt Lightning pump rifle. When they finally released it only the choosen few got them as my long wait on a list got me nothing. When you see the Taurus 1911 you can believe it is real. Until then breath deeply.

This kind of negative business activity is disheartening as Taurus recently has made some pretty nice stuff. I got one of their Model 63's, the semi-auto 22LR copy of the same model number Winchester rifle, and it is a little jewel for the price. They seem to be bringing out (rather slowly unfortunately) "copy" guns worth having.

I have a bunch of Taurus guns, all of them accurate and reliable. I'm also eager to see their 1911, but nothing yet here, a friend of mine is a local Taurus dealer and knows nothing about it.

I know what you mean about "holding my breath",this gun was supposed to be in over a year ago,BUT my dealer talked to his w/s and was assured that the gun has been shipped from the warehouse (my dealer ordered 4 in two different finishes and grip configurations and was only allowed one)...

SHOOTER,have your ffl call SOG, they had several dragys in stock a few weeks back, only took 4 days to get mine in. And the price was right, about $600.00 wholesale, with the correct scope.I think you can shave off about $100.00 if you opt to not get the scope.
