Hey Terry, you have a good deal of experience with the Mauser 98 pattern rifles, much more than I do. Can you suggest a relatively easy way to get a stuck rear sight off one without damaging the sight or the rifle? I'm talking about one where the leaf spring under the sight is really, really stuck on there, I suspect because there's some sort of gunk wedging it into the slot at the rear of the sight holder. Do you know if the Krauts ever soldered those springs in place? It would seem kind of dumb to do that, but one never knows. Most of the time it's relatively easy to take the tension out of the spring with a small screwdriver then pop the sight out. The one I'm working on now categorically refuses to budge.
