Question Restrike Capability

Hi again all. I'm sure everyone else knows the answer to this but me, so I have to ask so I can know also. This is a feature on the Kimber KPD .40 cal (Double action trigger pull is consistent at 8-9 pounds and offers restrike capability. )
What does (restrike capability) mean?
Thanks.

It means that if the round doesn't go off the first time you pull the trigger, you can pull the trigger a second time to try again.

It's also a feature on the Pro versions of the new Taurus pistols.

JohnK3 has the right of it, durk. A restrike capability is a feature not often found on auto pistols; i.e., the trigger does not reset automatically after it is squeezed--the pistol has to be re-racked to cock it again. Thus if you have a bad round, or if the pistol experiences an FTF (failure to fire) for any reason, it has to be cleared before it may be discharged again. Generally, this is an inherent weakness in an auto that does not affect a revolver and why some prefer a revolver over an auto for defensive purposes.

I guess it only applies to double action without exposed hammer?

Both my pistols can do that. Beretta 92FS and Bersa Thunder .380. I love my DA/SA stuff.

Restrike aren't hard if it has a hammer but on a DAO it gives a second chance on a round with out having to rack the slide a feed a new round.
On a SA/DAO all you have to do pull the hammer back again without losing your firing stance

No, I would just pull the trigger to cock the hammer and release it causing a restrike.
