You are right we will survive! The question is will we remain free or become subjects? Will we be allowed to continue to believe in the GOD of our choice?
Will we be allowed to have a small chicken pen for fresh eggs? And the big QUESTION Will we be able to afford to continue to live a normal life or will that be taxed out of reach for the elderly? No the sky isn't falling but I dang sure ain't trusting the GOVERNMENT to take care of me for anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ron who would start his own country if I could

Wait and see, this may work out....
It can ONLY go one of two ways (1) The Dems start gloating and talking "mandate," get drunk on power and immediately try to push all the Liberal Crap we are afraid of, and vote to run from the war (2) The Dems actually start listening to the Conservatives and moderates WITHIN their party, and we start getting honest debate again, and actual "bipartisanship." IF it's the first, things will go to hell in a handbasket, we might get hit again, and IF the Republicans can regroup with true CONSERVATISM, which WINS, they will only have control for two years. If it's the SECOND, it will be GOOD for the USA...we NEED an active, HONEST, truly AMERICA first Two-party system to survive....

i expect the reps that survived to make a shift to the rt & dims to do their best to appear as conservatives... (which will most likely fail) this election was given to the dims bc the republicans left their base.

You might be right, I'm afraid, if the Dems eventually get the Senate....
Remember George Bush in '04 said he WOULD sign an AWB extension if it made it to his desk. At the time it was thought only to make him more acceptable to "moderates" during the election, knowing full well the Republicans in the House would never pass it....but we will have to see..... I'd better save my money to get my first "Black gun" soon, huh.... ![]()

If one wishes, as I, to have something along the lines of a semi-auto rifle, NOW is the time to get it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had a longtime craving for a Browning BAR in .300 Win Mag..... Just haven't had the sheckles, however. And now, for the first time, they are offering it in a true Left Handed model for 2007 !!!!!

But then again, there's those "moderate" Dems that are now in solidly RED districts, like in Florida, Texas, and AZ, that ONLY won due to corruption, or dirty trick issues, along with the ones that just may actually BE conservative, like Heath Shuler, and a few others....
No WAY they could vote for it and get reelected, no matter WHAT Pelosi says so just MAYBE there's hope.... And with Lieberman winning DESPITE being stabbed in the back by Kennedy, Clinton, and Schumer...there is hope we may ACTUALLY get debate allowed again WITHIN the Democrat party like it's supposed to be, not just a "divided" GOP fighting with "united" Democrat Party.... The Democrats are going to find out quickly it's a HELLUVA lot easier to criticize from the outside, than to actually have to come up with an actual plan and SELL it....

On thing I noted about the election is that a very high percentage of the Democrats elected are what could be reasonably categorized as "conservative" Democrats. Granted, that still places them too far to the left for my liking, at least on some issues, but it may well be, as Polish suggests, that the pendulum has not swung as far to the left as Pelosi and her ilk may think.

You know, the BEST thing that could happen for Republicans WOULD be for them to misread it, and hit the ground running with all kinds of Liberal Controversial bills right off the bat....like Clinton did with "Gays in the Military," and embracing the "condom queen" for SG, and other Liberal gaffes....the public swung QUICKLY and two years later the GOP won for the first time in 40 some years.... One BAD thing is if it happens too quickly, the Republicans might MISS the chance to purge their OWN "wannabe loved by the press moderates" and get back to Conservative Principles.....on which they ALWAYS win. Low taxes, Low spending, SMALL government, Pro-life, Pro-military, Pro-gun, strict interpretation of the Constitution... But fortunately or unfortunately I happen to be an AMERICAN first, not a Republican.... I'm actually mixed....I'd LOVE to see the Democrats "get it," and moderate their positions, and shun the wacko Liberals so much they run to the marginal Socialist party, or the "Greens" where they can wail and scream and protest all they want, and get IGNORED by the rest of us "adults." It MIGHT mean another 40 years of Democrat control of the House, but "this Great Experiment of ours" DEPENDS on a health two party system, with BOTH parties thinking FIRST of America and her future, not THEIRS.....

Actually,. that is the lesson I HOPE the Republicans take from this, to be only concerned with keeping your POWER is the only sure way to LOSE it...to fight for PRINCIPLE not only WINS power but KEEPS it....
And there is NOTHING that muddles the mind more than the glee of WINNING, while nothing CONCENTRATES your mind more than the pain LOSING...so there is hope.

I think the bottom line on all this is that, deep down, the American people, taken as a whole, are neither far left liberals nor right-wing conservatives. Instead the majority of them are basically centrists with perhaps a rather strong orientation toward certain traditional American values--religion, strong defense, and the rights of the individual. The key to the 2008 election will be, I think, what happens in Iraq. That's what tipped this election, the perception (whether accurate or not) that we are rapidly getting ourselves into another quagmire like Vietnam. If Bush can get that situation under control within the next two years, and be perceived by the American people as having done so despite Democratic meddling, the 2008 election will be up for grabs. If not, the Republicans are in deep do-do.

Nothing changed in my neck-o-the woods. The same ole same ole. Sen. Lott "R" and Congress Taylor "D". If it changed where you are, write to them and tell them what you "expect" of them. They don't know if you voted for them or not. Hound them. They work for you. (Ha Ha) We have been through this before and we will get through it again. I pray.

Let me explain. Being that it seems that the major change was due to Iraq, it is up the (D)s to figure out if they want to pull the troops out or not since they now have the power to cut funding. If we run and surrender to the terrorist slash radical Islamists, it sure may seem like the world is coming to an end. It might actually be the end for countries like Israel. They will be so emboldened by their major victory over the Great Satan (USA), that they will be on extra attack mode. As already seen in the new thread that I posted. But the big picture, the way that I see it is like this. The (D)s don’t see that we are at war with radical Islam, as illustrated by there own statements like, it is a Sunni Shiites civil war. And things like there are no terrorist in Iraq, shows me they are out of touch with the war that was declared on us. I found an interesting stat the other day, there are around one billion Islamists and an estimated 10% are of the radical kind. That is a shitload of people that will kill themselves to off a few “Christians” slash infidels. I hope that the (D)s have a higher IQ than the terrorists do, because we saw how smart they were, ala 9/11 right? I’m not really holding out much hope on the higher IQ thing, as they don’t even understand what the oath of office is. To uphold the constitution. So I’ll hand it to you that indeed the world is not coming to an end yet, but the sky might be falling with radioactive fallout. Like this or even this
