Condition good, and is a shooter. The Ross was the most dangerous bolt action rifle ever made. When re-assembling the bolt, it's possible to get it backwards....in which case, when you fire the rifle, the bolt will fly back and lodge in our skull! See: www.rootsweb.com/~ww1can/weapons.htm Ross95966 Member Posts: 5 (7/12/02 10:56:53 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Re: 1905 Ross MII 303 Cal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Ross rifle of 1905 had the solid, not interrupted thread bolt head. It can be assembled incorrectly and chamber a round without locking up. However it will not allow the firing pin to protrude enough to fire the gun in that state. Try it with primed cases to prove it for yourself. The later M1910 interrupted thread lugs apparently did kill several shooters when assembled incorrectly. While most of the military Ross rifles I've seen were in terrible shape, and the throats were washed out, that may indicate that they were used up safely. It is well to caution new owners of Ross rifles, but all shooting activities incur a degree of risk, just not this particular risk. Take the time to learn your new gun and don't let her die from disuse. The Ross 1910 Mark III with threaded bolt design are junk and should never be shot. Ross MarkIII rifles have killed may shooters. Thanks for your comments xracer and ross95966 Ross95966 Member Posts: 6 (7/14/02 9:23:38 pm) Reply | Edit | Del Re: 1905 Ross MII 303 Cal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tommyd, And we didn't even address your question. Fjestad's Blue Book of Used Gun Values lists Canadian 1907 Mark II at $120.00 (60%) to $295.00 (100%) and sporter 1910's at $150.00 to $375.00. (US dollars) Not all junk is worthless. So true not all junk is worthless. Only paid 45.00 dollars for this rifle 2 years ago, not to bad a deal.
