The second image is an Aero Commander. Both images are computer generated. I too am a flight simulator fan, and also a real pilot with about 30 hours solo, and the same with an instructor. The Mustang has to be the sexiest airplane in WW2. Thanks for the images; I have added them to my collection of beautiful things for my slide show screen saver (naked women, guns, knives, sunsets, et cetera).

Doesn't go very fast up that high, lol. Well at least the airspeed indicator doesn't show much, even with the supercharger turned on but I'll tell what, it runs real cool. ![]() This has to be one the very best freeware planes that are out there. That Aero Commander is as real as real can be. It was built by to the exact specs that are in the Mfg. specs. They are working an A-26 Invader right now. Sweet, I can't wait. Lead, that is FSX by the way. ![]()

I've been flying the Aero Commander (I've always called it the Twin Commander for some reason) in FS9 (2004) quite a bit. Haven't bought FSX yet. I've got the 500, 560, 680 and Shrike versions of the Commander. One of the nicer freeware planes out there. Not as fast as the Howard 500 though...
Been flying in real-life since I was a teen (Dad's a pilot). I've taken a few helicopter lessons too, but I've still got another 38 hours or so before I can get that license. So I fly the helicopters just about all the time on FS now. The Hughes 500D, MD500E, Bell 412, UH-60 Blackhawk, etc. If you want, I can post a few of my screenshots...

If anyone is interested in real photographs, try airliners.net. I'll try inserting an example; not sure of it will work.
LL looks like it worked; there are hundreds of thousands of images on this site. Enjoy ![]() |

I have a Spit, but haven't taken it out of the hanger in a while. When I happen to take a good one...
Thanks Marlin, so how did the guy do with the paint job on Merlins Magic? I would have to say photo real? The guys that make these things are incredible. The ones that I like have been pilot tested, meaning they really fly like they really fly! So far I have Eclat, Canadian MKIV, Geralding, Merlins Magic (directly above), RAFF-76SQN, Old Crow, Jack, Moonbeam McSwine, FF-524. and a few others. Great place Lead, go there and punch in the tail numbers from Merlins Magic for some photos of it.

I've ridden in A P-51D. The owner of the flight school I went to owns one. Flying over our town at 400 knots was too cool. I'm used to 120-150 knots.
Wasn't it the Comander that Bob Hoover used to do aerobatics with at all the airshows? |

Yup, Bob Hoover flew an Aero Commander in his airshow performances......and what an amazing pilot he is, doing those airobatics in a two engine non-airobatic aircraft.
I have 300+ hours.....mostly in a Stinson L-5, Citabria, and twin engine UC-78 "Bamboo Bomber" .....Sims are fun, but not at all like the "real thing". |

Popgunner do you remember which P51D it was?
Yep X your correct. If I could trade in my hundreds of hours in for just a hundred or so would be really cool!!!!! Some of the planes are the same as the real thing, right down to the last rivet. But it is still just a sim.

You are right, Pop; sims are not the real thing. I think they are more difficult in some respects because you don't have the peripheral vison thing going for you - turning from base to final is much easier in a real airplane than in a simulator. Getting lined up with the latter is more difficult, but from all reports, sims are valuable teaching tools. Fun, too!
And far cheaper then the real airplanes. Anyone had a greaser in real flight? I have had only one, and was not even trying. It really is cool when you suddenly realize you ARE on the runway! Sooo Smoooth ![]() LL |

Neat Pics!
I used to skydive in the 80's & Bob Hoover flew that Aero Commander @ all the Airshows we jumped in. I knew there was a reason that plane looked famillar. As for my flight experience, I held the stick on a Citribria for 10 min., once... I have about 280 hours riding up to altitude 520 times, jumped out 518 times. I have about 5 hours in Freefall! Jumped from: DC3, Twin Otter, King Beech, Cessna 182 & 206, Stearman & a Sikorsky 58T. AHH...my wild & carefree youth All my life I spent most of my money on women, skydiving, guns, motorcycles & having fun. The rest of my money, I wasted. ![]()

Couple of pics of two whirlybirds I painted for FS9:
![]() ![]() If they look familiar, it's because I used to post on the Simviation forum. (Sorry about not posting them earlier. Between the trip to New York and the excitement of a new gun, I've been quite distracted.)

Maybe I should've typed "I was a regular poster on..."
Hey, it was late, I was exhausted. I've got more screen caps -hundreds- and will post a few of my fancier ones here later.
