The last I knew Kansas allowed dewats and seems like I've head they also allow C & R catagory FAs.
When I lived in Kansas with a house full (actually only about a half dozed) of dewats they didn't even allow those. I didn't know about it till I had moved back to Mo. I learned to read and write German using both the script & what is now current day form. I can still read a bit of it, but not much and about all I can write is my name. Personally I like Der Adler u. related magazines (Luftflotte West, Nord u. Süd) better than Signal, but then I'm more interested in the Luftwaffe. Sarge |

We are talking about two different things. he was looking at a dummy gun, asking about making a semi auto. He wanted to buy a $4000 dummy gun made from real parts. The gun he spoke of had a piece of the reciever missing and filled with solid material, meaning the gun still needs a cut reciever to build off of. Also it is most likely missing the bolt group. He'll need another $1000 to get the reciever pieces, $400 for the barrel as the one in it was plugged, and another bunch for internals, and another $1000-2000 (most likely closer to $2000) for a god of welding to put it together straight and to spec. Even then without a real one and a complete seperate trunion to compare to the welding will be almost imposible. Thats $7000-8000 cash not counting time. I'd start with $2000 dummy gun made from real parts with a good barrel or a $3000 parts kit with reciever pieces. Thats what I did. I also had a complete gun to compare to and a trunnion to use as a guide when rebuilding mine. I wouldn't sell mine for under $10,000 even as a semi. Heres a MP44 and Luftwaffe shot combined. These are mine in use. Sarge I can't believe you wouldn't help a young SF brother out and sell that top kit! ![]() |

Dewats don't count in my book; they are ok though as far as the law is concerned. FA is almost impossible unless you count it as a dealer sample here.
Sarge I used to have a subscription to Der Spiegel and Das Stern at one point. Got tired of current events. Most of my bulk is Franco-Prussian era history books and journals and WWI newspapers and books. Although I have found use for a 1923 field survey manual; we still use the same equipment. I picked up my first military dictionary when I was on loan to Rak Hydra in Oberdachstetten and it remained handy for quite some time as I got a blue target issued for head wear. |

Hey ranger (as in there's nothing stranger than)
I can match that photo. What unit you in? I'm FJR1. Xin Loi, nothing in the photo of my 43 family is for sale, probably for ever! What's this young SF brother bit? Who, when, where, what? Sarge |

Yes! Very neat photos. I did that at Kreta & Casino for the 50th. Also back away from Omaha beach on the D Day 50. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the first 2, but some video of Normandy around here some place. 2 of us with a combi in combat uniform.
I was at St Mere in the official seating section - row behind where the 101st vets sat after they jumped - for the 50. and in the bleachers - No official seating that year, but Sec Army sat beside me and seems like the commandant of the maroon korps sat across the isle? - for the 60. Hey, you didn't answer any of my questions. Here is 4 of us at a civilian jump in 02. The guy on the left had just jumped, his first, and the other 3 were getting ready, 2nd from rights first also. Full equipment jump. Nearly all of my unit is jump qualified. Yep, that ammo has been available for a while. Sarge |

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A HOUSE WITH A WOODEN CRATE FULL OF BULLETS. WHEN I TOOK THEM TO MY LOCAL GUN STORE HE TOLD ME THEY WERE FOR A MP 44. THESE BULLETS ARE STILL SEALED IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGES. WOULD ANYONE BE INTERESTED IN BUYING THEM I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE HARD TO GET. THE GUN DEALER SAID THE PACKAGING CODE SAYS THEY WERE PACKAGED IN 1943.

The rarest of all is the STG-45 ... most likely in the high 5 digits to 6 digit figures. If you are able to find one for sale that is ... even than, I would be very cautious. Actually, don't ever expect to find one on the market. Besides, your only pay'n more for the stamp, it's no different in design from the 44. Guess it is up to the collectors standards.
quick history of the STG The original weapon is the STG-45, which was introduced on the eastern front. The weapon was produced against Hitlers will -- he had given the thumbs down on the weapon based on appearance. I believe he used the word ‘ugly’ which was due to the stamped weapon design. The generals went ahead and had the STG-45 produced anyway. Though, they had to make sure the weapon would not be seen by Hitler, thus they were sent to the eastern front. Unfortunatly due too 'private' funding, small quantities of the original were shipped. Talk about dropping a load ... it wasn’t long till Hitler took a trip to the eastern front. While traveling along the eastern front, Hitler was conducting troop inspections. He approached a trooper in one of the formations. Hitler asked what he could do to help in their efforts. The trooper asked for more STG-45’s ... to Hitlers surprise ... he began to notice his troopers were armed with the 'ugly' rifle... rest assured, he was pissed. Hitler glared at the generals, which I’m sure they all knew it was a matter of time till they faced a fire squad. But, lucky for them, they were able to convince Hitler of the weapons combat proven capabilities. Thus, in time, Hitler redesignated the weapon as the STG-44 and wanted to glorify the weapon for his propaganda engine -- giving it the name 'assault rifle'. The STG had developed into the MP series and production continued well after WW2. Also, the STG's evolutionary offspring is one of the most prefered weapons of today ... the AK-47. The bullet is from a MG42 round and the casing is from the K98 ? maybe it was K68. Anyhow, they took a standard rifle casing and chopped it in half, fitted the MG42 bullet and bamm, you now have a STG round. Which was great in mass production aspect. Germany was already geared for exsisting ammo production and the STG series was a stamped design. Unfortunate or fortunate, guess it depends on your point of view. The weapon did not make it to the western front quick enough for a noticable difference for germany. You can dub it as another one of Hilters greatest blunders. But, we Americans are no different, the BAR was produced during WW1, but out of fear that the germans would get ahold of it and reverse engineer the design. We ended up storing the revolutionary BAR (well, for that era) while US troopers were stuck using POS french weapons. SNAFU .. political retards, ya gotta love it. |

Hey SARGE:
I know this is quite off the mark but my Mom was a WW2 war bride from the Ardennes in France. In 1995, a year after she passed, I went to Bayonville in the Ardennes to spend 2 weeks and attend a cousin's wedding. While there I was talking to one of my kin and he said he worked for the Road Crew. He said the week before we arrived he was working a grader and he and his crew unearthed a dead French soldier from the Franco-Prussian War! Believe it or not they identified him and he was from a suburb of Paris. By the way I have a two volume set of illustrated books of the Franco-Prussian War published a few years after the conflict in French. Oh, the wedding reception was in the village Sgt. Alvin York shot 22 Germans and captured 132 more in October, 1918. I saw the monument from the State of Tennessee across the street from the hall! I like chatting about what my Mom told me and my mother's family history. If you want to chat about it e-mail me at jeanbarb@verizon.net jeanp1948 (Jean Francois Pouliot) of Oakland, Maine

Hanel produced 185000,Erma 104000, Steyr 80000, and Sauer 55000. And there are some evidenses that pointing on that there was produced about 20000 more in april 1945 that is not on the list. greetings

Hello, I am new to the site. I have an MP43 or 44 not sure which that was given to around 15 years ago by my great uncle. He brought this back as a war trophy. He gave me quite a few firearms, but I do not have much use for this one in particular. I am writing this question before doing research, but what is the price range if I were looking to get rid of it? I understand that they are scarce, and am familiar with the history. Please let me know what additional information would be helpful. Thanks!

I have a couple old Apps for Importation signed by Commissioner of Internal Revenue. First is dated 1946 and the other I believe was sometime in the 60's. It confused me since both MP43 and 44 were on it. The paperwork states: Model MP43, but the Model number ends in /44.

thats how i know its a first issue , its still using the stamped housings
your trigger group is stamped 43 but the barrel has the lay down ( see the barrel is trimmed the last 3" or so on the 44 ?) theres one exactly like this in a book i have ( in storage of course ) and your numbers are before 4000.. as after that they where all 44's ( so i read i forget exactly where the cut off was but 4800 rings a bell) War Trophy thats a valuable weapon right there , i dont even know where to say what its worth , but know some who'd line up for the chance to buy it |

That makes sense then. The other paperwork is dated 1968. I also have 4 boxes of ammo still in the orig packaging. Reading that it is worth a pretty penny as well. Thank you for your information!

Value would depend, greatly, on what country you are in.

the butt is another give away the 43 is almost inline with the receiver the 44 slopes away more and is smaller
a pic comparing the butt's and one of the STG mag stamps , very different and the barrel nut and muzzle differences top is 43/1 bottom is a 44 your has all these features .. if it had the small butt or different barrel nut arrangement i'd say part gun , but it all matches ... visually anyway my guess is its the real deal ... I'm in the south US. He left me with over 200 weapons from different time periods along with a lot of WWII memorabilia (German uniforms, daggers, etc.). Just getting the stuff out of storage these past couple of days since we moved into our new home.

Really excited I found this site. I've learned much more here than I did digging around on the internet. With allof these, I need to start getting rid of some of them. I enjoy firearms but am no collector by any means, even though I have a decent collection. Just wish I could have picked his brain before he passed.
