Two days ago this History Channel told me that the bullet proof vest was invented by a man. It showed the man shooting himself in the stomach.

Wonder who makes some of this stuff up.

Interestingly enough, however, is that Spread Spectrum Radio Transmission was invented by a woman: Heddy Lamar.

Unknown to most people is the fact that Heddy was an active Amateur Radio operator, as well as being a famous actress. The idea for Spread Spectrum came from her observation of a player piano roll. She thought that, if the signal were to be made to shift frequencies according to a pattern, they would be much harder for the enemy to intercept. She even holds tha patent for it.

A buddy of mine that is a former SWAT member, told us about this guy that sold his own brand vests and would get someone to shoot him at the SWAT round up. After a while he was banned from attending.
