It is just that time of year. I only have a moped for now (I'm still a poor college student), but I took it out for the first cruise of the year this afternoon.

Anybody else been out for a good ride yet?

CampingJosh:

Last week we took our annual Bagdad Cafe off road motorcycle ride. The "Bagdad Cafe" is the exact one used in the movie from the early 1980's and is along Old Route 66 in Newberry Springs, CA. It is nothing more than a greasy spoon restaurant in a remote desert city in CA. But it is the only restaurant close to the dirt road where our off road ride turns around to go back to the truck. The characters that work in the place are one step above derelicts. Apparently there is a European cult following for the movie and tour companies arrange it for a tourist stop for European tourist. There were 45 French people there for lunch when we attended last week and they had 55 Europeans earlier the same week.

Anyway, the ride started off a dry lake from our truck and went north across the desert and over the mountains to Old Route 66: 75 miles round trip. The ride was fun on my 1973 Triumph Trophy Trail. One of my friends was on a Rickman Triumph and other a 1980's dual sport Honda 250. The scenery was very good as the desert had just broken into bloom (a month long event before it returns to brown). That was our first ride of the season and we are planning both street and off road rides on modern and vintage motorcycles over the next 6 months or so, as we always do.

I don't know.... and NO...its not me. I'd have to eat a Taco Buenno every day for a couple of years to reach that kind of vulgarity....
Well, visual vulgarity anyway.

I like how the bike has Rip Curl on the side.

The only curl this tubby has seen is cheese curls, and the only rip is the one he'll get in his shorts if he bends over.
