Talking My 1st Purchase as a Cruffler

She's an Enfield 2A Ishapore in 308. We will meet for the 1st time via UPS tomorrow

I am confident I will purchase serveral more Mosins (at least) and yes, probably a Mauser as well. Anyhow, this is my 1st as a C&R holder and I am pleased as punch!!!

ps: ok to shoot 308 win catridges through this rifle?

I have heard it both ways. I load down for mine with 150gr bullets and lighter. Nice old war horses though and a smooth action.

Congrats on your first purchase, I hope you aren't married because as a cruffler the bug is sure to bite you bad!

BAD NEWS Bolt closed on my gunsmith's no-go headspace gauge for 308 win. This rifle is 308 NATO and I think there is a small difference in headspace tolerance....

Did I buy a $180 oversized paperweight or can corrective action be taken that won't rival the cost of the rifle? It would be wonderful to run some ammo through her but I am a cautious fellow and value my eyes, fingers and face- the way they are now!!

Please advise.

I finally got some rounds through mine last monday. Commercial and military cases that were handloaded. No problems and the fired cases look fine. Just need to weld about 1/4" on to the front sight because I was printing high on the target above the one I was aiming at. Don't think it will ever be a tack driver but might eventually get it to shoot "minute of dinner plate".

Take it to a gunsmith to be safe!! We only go around once, and you can't rewind the clock.
