Hi everyone. Just need some input here on which size scope rings to buy. I recently purchased a Squires Bingham Model 20. I had also bought a Kmart AllPro 4x32 scope on Ebay "for nostalgic reasons".
The Weaver rings would not fit. I'm assuming they were 1in rings. They were way too wide for the grooved scope rail on the receiver. For .22 & airguns, is 3/8 pretty much the standard? Also my receiver is tapered, no flat so is there any particular type of rings I need to look for? Like (3/8 base, for tapered receivers)? I appreciate anyone's input on this. Thanks

The scope rings you're needing for your rifle are indeed called 3/8" dovetail rings. That is pretty much a long-standing standard for most rimfires.
My personal preference for 3/8" dovetail rings are the Millet brand. They're a good solid steel ring and will actually clamp onto a dovetail that's a bit undersized. |
