I document each time I go shooting.
I have a notepad in my bag. Each time I go to the range, I note the date, how many rounds and bullet type. Anyone else do this?

LoL I don't know how many times I've said that I would and then forget to.
![]() I get a fairly good idea by primer use on the handguns and case firing count on the rifles. I pretty much shoot only reloads other than the rimfire stuff. I have a 1911 with over 100,000 rounds through it, only 100 (2 boxes) were factory. Several of my guns have no clue as to what a factory round is. ![]() Art

I realized I don't, mostly because the gun is used so doesn't really matter... but I realized I bought a case before I even bought the gun, shot one box of Lawman and nothing else so could easily figure out exactly how much I have actually shot heh.

No, but I wager around 500-600 in my Mosin, about 1000-1350 in my brother's Marlin 795, about 56 in my 16ga, 1 in my Ranger (Marlin 80) (missing extractor) and 0 in my S&W 10-2 (Haven't gotten it to the range, yet).
My previous guns go from 25rnds to 200rnds.

I have no idea how many rounds I have put through my guns. I document the loads and which brass I have shot through which gun and which loads are the most accurate and the date, but that is about it.

I have a notepad in my bag. Each time I go to the range, I note the date, how many rounds and bullet type. I do the same thing, it is especially important to do it in your carry pistol to keep track off when to change the recoil spring. |

I shoot mostly reloads, and have no clue as to how many rds. go through my guns. Factory ammo is for SD use, and is shot to some extent to be sure that brand functions well. When I want to shoot, I just grab a handfull of targets and go to the back yard, two - three times a week with one gun or another.

Yes, with guns purchased new. Noting the wear on these helps me evaluate the used guns that I consider purchasing.

I keep detailed data books on my target rifles but don't bother with any others.

I reload everything I shoot. The other stuff is getting too expensive. I count the number of primers I use and keep the empty trays. When I open another box, I count the empties to see how many rounds I have shot. My wife shoots an doesn't count sometimes. Drives me nuts. But, that is her way and she is entitled to it. To date I have sent near 150,000 rounds through my Sig P220. Amazing firearm. In all that time I have had to repalce the extractor only once.

I could only imagine documenting rounds that were shot for a reason. Like trying out reloads, or for shot patterns. I only keep a mental record as to what shoots the best out of my guns. Beyond that I haven't needed to really know that exactly. I might pay more attention with my new varmint rifle, but only because I'd like to know whether or not I can hit woodchucks and crows at 400 plus yards. But everything else is sub-150 yard stuff.

Run a pretty good total on the varmiter - on a new barrel. I log all the reloads, (all I shoot in it ) so I'm pretty confident on the numbers.... Others I don't care - for a variety of reasons. >MW

Not really... but I do reload, so I mark my boxes with the 'number' of times the cases have been reloaded. So I 'could' come up with a pretty close number! Of course this only works if you have only one gun per caliber .... Now I have two Ruger .45 colts .... So won't exactly work now for that caliber

I keep track of barrels rather than rounds (its easier), if accuracy starts to fall-off its time to rebarrel, or better yet, look for something new.
"Caution" never buy a used gun from me. |
