Default Favorite "Song of the Season"?

Just curious, which song if any, and why? Might be an association; might be that it captures exactly what you think this season 'is', or maybe 'should' be! Might be sacred or secular; humorous or holy.

My favorite is "Christmas in the Trenches", written by John McCutcheon, becasue of what it depicts, and what it represents.

A beautiful song indeed, Kirker. I have it in my music collection.

I guess I would have to say my favorite is "Do You Hear What I Hear" sung by Bing Crosby. Another I am very fond of is "O Come, O Come Immanuel."

Although it's not technically holiday music, I like Pachelbel's Canon in D major. The first time I heard it was the Christmas we visited the grandparents in Canada and I attended a beautiful mass at the C of E. Such fantastic memories, those attached to music!

Pistolenschutze,

The duet Bing did with David Bowie "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth" is one of my favorites, but a gentleman from my church does an AMAZING version of "Oh Holy Night"

Handel's Messiah is one of my all time favorite pieces. I really enjoy it this time of the year, very little chance to do so though.

pinecone70, Canon in D is my favorite classical piece. To me it is about the prettiest melody I've ever heard....but prefer the violin(3) version over any other arrangement.

"Oh Holy Night" is probably my favorite Christmas song.

It's a Marine thing, Lori. They learn to sing it in boot camp. In the Army we learned to sing "Hark the Herald Sergeants Sing" and "Privates Roasting on an Open Fire."

No, but I do remember:
Jingle bells, Batman smells, Robin laid and egg,
the Batmobile lost its wheel and Joker got away
HAY!

Call me crazy, but when I go out to take care of the chickens, I sing to them. Really gets the Tom turkey going! They all really start cackling, and running around. Perhaps my screeching isn't pleasant to them, can you imagine that?!?! They are still laying over 70 eggs a day in spite of temps in the single digits and below. They really get going over Jingle Bell Rock. Maybe it is the dancing.

My favorite Christmas song is and has always been O Holy Night sung slow and quietly like a lull-a-by.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Remember the way the crowds went wild whenever Elvis or the Beatles performed? Those chickens are probably just swooning in ecstacy

Anything from Mannheim Steamroller is touching to my soul.

Good stuff for sure.

On the lighter side--"Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer", serious-- Bing Crosby's--- "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" don't know why, never enjoyed his singing, not from that era, but it just brings out the spirit.
