I do like the fact that you can put shotshells, shorts, & longs through it as well as .22LR. I don't have anything else that will do that, and what if I have to kill a snake or a rat under the house?[/QUOTE]
Bro, that's what a 'barn cat' is for!
I got guns, but also dogs and cats, and everything has a purpose; the cats do just fine with the vermin, of the small variety, and the dogs do well on larger problems; IMHO the pistols are the tool to get to the real weapon, a rifle, or to keep a dog from being hurt.
I seriously doubt that a 'Warrant Team', could make entry, into my home, with the doors unlocked, in less than a half hour, and my animals are or were all 'problem children', when they came here.
I do not like the mini revolvers, out of the mini handles, they wear; still, in .22 mag, a shot load could well save the day, just, not on stuff the cat should handle!

Good point. That takes care of the problem for me. You just saved me a couple hundred bucks (less the cost of catfood).

3. A 1908 Colt

All three are semi-autos and perform flawlessly and are absolutely invisible. The Baby Browning being the smallest of the three.
All of those are excellent and reliable .25 autos, Berto, though hardball was what they were designed to use. Will any of the new hollow-point rounds function reliably in them? Just curious. I have a Beretta 21 that functions well with the Speer Gold Dot hollow-point, and that is what I carry in it on the rare occasion when I carry it at all. The .25 is not much of a stopper, but it is a damn sight better than nothing at all!

Never tried any HPs in any of them. I figured that they were designed for ball so that's what I use. I found some Winchester soft nose ball that works well in all three. It's 45 gr. Expanding Point in a silver box.

Berto, love the sig line!
In a little caliber like .22 LR, or .25 ACP, the only rule on ammo is it's gotta be 100% reliable, 'cause it don't make enough horsepower to forgive a malfunction, or a poorly placed shot.
My TPH is the fourth, before I found one that was reliable, first shot, double action; the first three were so sporadic as to scare me, from a reliability standpoint; this one went from the temporary to permanent list, based on the three priors, only after it had digested well over two bricks of Stingers, with ZERO malfunctions, of any kind, then the cheap plastic mag baseplate broke; go figger!
All the mags (3) now have 303 Stainless baseplates, courtesy of the milling machine in the garage, and the little pistol remains flawless, in it's running.
It's the last choice defensive weapon, for me, but still a lot better than a sharp stick, or no weapon, at all.

If it was a last resort hidden gun that had to be super small I'd forgoe any 25acp no matter how great the little brownings are or the colts and stick with the best and hottest 22LR That i know of with the most effective 22 ammo I know of:Beretta 21A full of CCI Stinger hollowpoints. Ive had my little flip top for years and it has never malfunctioned on me and Ive shot nothing but stingers out of it. 9 stingers in the face is better than a gun that will jam and hyper velocity 22lr makes a big mess. Having said that though, I think that little Keltec in 380 isn't much bigger and with ball ammo is definately reliable. But truth be known I'm a Police Officer and always carry off duty and the smallest I go is a J frame 38spl or a 3913 9mm.

Beretta .22 or .25.
This is a "last-ditch-I'm-gonna-die-if-I-don't-kill-this-SOB" gun. Humans aren't elk. At close range, either of these will work. I note the Isrealis have a pretty good record of close-kills with the .22.

I have a Beretta .25 auto that I use to carry around. You can carry it almost anywhere on you. The problem I have with it is that unless your 5 feet away your not going to hit anything or anybody.
The other problem is that I use to clip on my belt, trouble is I can't see my belt anymore!!!!!!!!!!

The beretta 950 series autos are usually extremely accurate guns. They are hard to shoot well, but if the shooter does his part the gun will perform.

I recently ran a brand new NAA .22 LR 1 1/8 barrel over a chrono. One shot was in the mid 400's,(fps) another in the mid 500's, the last in the low 600's with CCI 32 grain stingers (sorry I don't remember the exact figures). A Baby Browning went 695 with a 50 grain bullet. Now I chrono anything I might use for defense.

A 40 grain projectile at 400+ fps shot into the 9-ring is still very lethal.

Kel-Tec P-32. I regularly carry this in my RF pocket in a small pocket holster with Speer Gold Dot HPs. I am like several of you, I technically can't carry a weapon at work although I always do. When you go into parts of town that I have to sometimes, only an idiot would go unarmed. Since the Kel-Tec is so small and looks like anything but a pistol while in its holster, it is the largest caliber option I have in this situation. It may be small, but it will be there when needed.

I had a partner once who carried a tiny .22lr two shot derringer as a back up.

His firearms his knowledge was, and is still second to none so there must be something in it.

You could move up to Keltec's P3-AT, the .380, which is in the same package as the P32, but with a bit more power.
