Default Could this work?

I am new to the AR-15 platform rifle. I found out that I might be able to make a conversion for one in the .45 Win Mag if I have a custom barrel made for it if I get the Olympic Arms .45 ACP Bolt assembly and extractor. My main concern is pressure. The .45 ACP only creates about 23,000 CUP for the +P loads I believe and the .45 Win Mag has a maximum of about 40,000 CUPs of pressure. Would the bolt be able to handle the higher pressures of the .45 Win Mag? I know that the springs wouldn't be able to so those will be swapped out for stronger ones, and I could customize a .308 Winchester magazine to be able to take .45 Magnum, so those areas aren't a consern. I just want to know if the bolt would be able to take the excessive beating, because I don't really know. Thanks for your opinion, and any info helps.

LoneWolf, here are a couple of companies that you may want to contact that may be able to answer your questions.
Alexander Arms makes the .50 Beowulf on the AR-15 platform.

Fulton Armory does some custom AR work, they may be able to help you out.

look into the .458 socom. all you need is an upper. it works with standard .223 mags and the standard bolt too. the .458 socom is a big bore powerhouse with a rebated rim for the AR platform that utilizes massive knockdown power from carbine length barrels. all you need is a standard AR-15 and a barreled .458 upper. you can go from woodchucks to bears with the simple popping of 2 pins...

Thanks for the tip on a caliber. It is an interesting one, but not what I am looking for. I am more over looking to build one in .45 win mag because I have a L.A.R. Grizzly Mark I that is made in .45 magnum and would like to have a companion rifle. Thanks again for the tip.

Hello all. LoneWolf, Back in the day when it was hot idea to own a 45 win mag, in the early 90's I built a 45 win mag AR using all Olympic arms parts. Oly's carbine 45ACP barrel, rotating bolt and utilizing a 6" gas system, and the regular AR-15 mags with the Fulton Armory blue single stack follower. The same followers used for the 450 Bushmaster. The AR-15 can handle just over 60,000 CUPs maybe a little more. The problem now is finding ammo, I do reload myself but, I'm just getting tired of the 45 win mag.... LoneWolf, Have you ever thought of a 450 Bushmaster, it's Much, Much hotter than the 45 Win Mag .

I built myself 450 Bushy using Oly's barrel since it's a 1 in 16 twist much better twist rate for the 45cal 300 grainer's.

I'm in the process now taking my AR in 45 win mag and converting it to what I'm calling a 10 MM magnum I'm using the Olympics 10mm carbine barrel, still utilizing the 45 win mag case but necking it down to a 10mm or (.40 S&W). I'm also doing what I'm calling 10MM Mag Express utilizing a 450 Marlin case and necking it down to a 10MM, for use in AR-15 rifles
