Default QUOTE OF THE YEAR

hope this hasn't been posted already. Received this AM in Email. Haven't checked,
don't want to find out if not true.

In a time where so much is being made about our first black

president, Ann Coulter made the following observation in her

column of 2/25/2009:

But as long as the nation is obsessed with historic

milestones, is no one going to remark on what a great

country it is where a mentally retarded woman can

become speaker of the house?

You could say, affirmative action at its worst.

I hadn't heard it, Nighthawk. Yes it gets my vote for quote of the year. Very funny.

After listening to a portion of her recent speech on illegal immigration I'm scared to death that it is probably true.

How does this happen? With her on the West coast..... I'm concerned she may be in Washington when California slips into the Pacific.

if we were blessed with the removal of california there would no longer be a state for her to represent. she would be removed from office and probably given a cabinet or czar position.

Scar rather than czar would be a better turm for this woman IMHO.
Just me.

Fear not,
I'm not sure what I was watching when she said it by I remember seeing Coulter say it.
I think it was at CPAC.
Google CPAC Coulter and listen to her speach. Even if this isn't where she says that, the speach is a riot. I highly recomend it.

No, she said it way before CPAC, but I still love to hear it. Totally un-PC and totally hilarious. TJ

SARG and rockn.... As a Californian (and there are others of us here in the forum) I do hope you will trust me when I say that not EVERYONE in California buys into the agendas set forth by the liberal politicians. I was born and raised here, and have raised my children here, as well. In fact, 1 is an Army combat vet, 1 is currently serving, and her husband is serving, too. My 3rd child (15 years old) is strongly considering a military path for his future, also. The church we attend has had at least 30 young people enlist since 9/11.

It's unfortunate when a whole state is judged by the leaders that the majority have elected, or judged by the voices that the media gives more air time to. Rather than wishing for us to "sink"...I'd rather you stand with those of us here who share your concerns for our nation as a whole.

Although your statements may have been made in jest, and I don't want to make more of them than necessary, I just thought I'd take the opportunity to speak on behalf of the many "conservative" thinkers in my midst.

Very nicely said 4ever. I have myself been guilty of an anti-California bias in the past, not because of individual Californians I've known but because of the Hollywood elite types and the San Francisco radical socialists. Boxer, Feinstein, and Pelosi don't help either. Of course they get all the press and the MSM rarely gives notice of the likes of Duncan Hunter who is also a Californian.

That's very true, Running. He's a great young man and one of the people I called regarding HR 1388. His voting record is quite impressive and he seems to stand for the values my family holds dear. I hope he stays the course!

We don't like them either believe me. I would offer the point that they are, for the most part, carpetbaggers from the East Coast. Like Hilary Clinton, they saw an opening and somehow got elected. The Hollywood types, well everyone knows they're talking through their a$$es. TJ

I've been to California and I've seen and heard what you all are talking about. I know it's there. But I also drove down the coast highway. There's country there as wild as any I've seen. Surely some of the people who live in that semi-wilderness have brains...? They wouldn't survive without them...or without guns, for that matter! So before you drive your wedges in the fault, let's go get those folks out. We may need them.

Hi, steve .43; welcome to the forum

I don't live in the wilderness, but I have been accused of having a synapse or two that resulted in a rational thought.

It's interesting being on "this" side of a generalization (at best) and stereotype (at worst). It gives me a better understanding for those who face being unfairly pigeonholed on a continual basis.

Thanks for having our back, Steve. We're not all moonbeams and tree huggers. I agree with 4Evr. We face the kind of people that seem to "represent" all that those think "Californians" are, every day, so it's weird to be lumped in with them. I was born in NW Indiana, and don't think less of you for being from there. Now, if the rest of you, especially the Southerners, would just let go of your preconceived ideas that Californians all run around in Birkenstocks, carry signs that say "We love you, Barry," we'll stop thinking that Jed and Granny don't know what a "cement pond" is. I've met, lived with, and have relatives from the South, and know they're very informed and intelligent. Not one of them are married to any of their own cousins TJ

Aww, rockntractor, you know you don't really mean that. My ex-mother-in-law is from Okmulgee, and she lives here, too. TJ

ok i'll be nice i have lots of relatives in california. besides i'm originally from minnesota . a breeding ground for liberal socialist ideas. iv'e noticed over the years rural seems to be conservative city seems to be liberal. it doesn't have as much to do with state lines. but i can still fantasize about hearing a muffled crack followed by a splash off in the distance.

See, we CAN be friends!! I certainly will agree with you about state lines and such. You never know who you will bump into. And, if you do hear a cracking sound, please post it here. TJ

That sad thing is that it's not just a funny joke. What Anne Coulter said about Pelosi is the truth.

what is even sadder is that right now the majority of americans are voting in these liberal socialists. until we change the hearts and minds of millions of americans there is and endless supply of nancy palosi's waiting for their chance at office. they will be progressively worse.
