Does anyone know anything about early Savage .22 rifles? I saw one Staurday, that was a bolt action, tube magazine in the butt stock. Very short length. Only thing I remember aside from the Savage rollmark on the top of the barrel was a 1901 date. And the trigger guard was quite curved and attached with 2 screws. I can't seem to get it out of my mind, any info would be appreciated.

John,
Are you sure about the patent date on the bbl roll mark? What I think you saw is a Model 1911, introduced in, you guessed it, 1911, and discontinued in 1915. Very short run and you don't see many. Shorts only, 20 in the magazine. What kind of shape was it in? What was it priced at? Pm me if you want or if you don't want this rifle I'd like to have the contact info and pursue it myself. TIA Steve |
