If you had the chance to go for a ride, in which military aircraft would you prefer to fly, and why? (If you could only pick one!)
P-51D or F-15 No, you can't say, both!!! Just one!Got a preference other than the two listed above? Go ahead and post it, just remember, ONE choice!!

Definitely the P-51!!! Love that Roll-Royce 12 cylinder, like a really hot sports car.

I loved the P-51. Got to sit in one once. Got a ride in an F-86 once. Got arrested at 8 years old for taking pictures of my favorite, though. The Son of 51.
(My all time favorite is still the P-38 Lightning) Pops |

I'd choose the F-15 in a heartbeat. Why choose a Model A when you can have a Lamborghini?

Hey! My Model A had a Dodge 440 in the rumble seat. (For awhile. 'Til we tried to take that curve and the clutch didn't release.)

Since only the two, bummer. I would say the P-51D. The sound of the engine is ossom. A real thrill though would be the SR-71 oh-yea.

Of the two listed, definitely the good ol' Mustang for me. Out of all the ones not listed, probably an A6M Zero. I just wouldn't want to have a Corsair or a Hellcat on my tail!

P51, a real aeroplane, no computers just metal and cables. The F15 is a weapons system (a good one). There again, if I was in a Dog fight !!!!

I would lean toward the P-38 Lightning. A close second would be the P-51D.

id have to go with the P51D. its just an utterly beautiful piece of machinery. its lines and curves....pheww!!
![]() . you actually have to be able to fly with this plane. there is no computer to do it for you...and i think we as a society rely on technology too much.P51D HANDS DOWN. itd have to look like this though

Well, the "Jenny" might be really fun, but I'd love to take a ride in a P-51. In our area, back a few years, you'd see War Birds all the time. One day I heard the throaty roar of radial engines, flying balls to the wall, and really low. I went outside and there was a F-4U and a T-6 painted to look like a Zero, "dog fighting" at tree top level! Really thrilling to watch, if you like that sort of thing. Now, too crowded. TJ

F-15, no question as I got a ride in a P-51 flown by Bob Hoover in the early '70s when I was about 14 or 15 years old. Got rides in other P-51s flown by less notable pilots. Got a ride in the Goodyear blimp. I grew up on various airports (my father homebuilt a Pietenpol) and got rides in lots of neat aircrafts. My favorite was the Breezy. I think getting shot off a catapult in anything you can see out of would be a scream.

SR-71. Not even one of my favorite aircraft, but I can't even begin to fathom what it feels like to go Mach 3+ at the edge of space.
