I always thought that Benchmade used Black-T to coat their blades. However, after speaking at length with Walter Birdsong, maker of Black-T (about an unrelated matter) he has informed me that his company only coated 100,000 blades back in 96 and that any currently produced coating that Benchmade uses, even if advertised as Black-T, is not.
They now use a powder coating, but continue to advertise Black-T. Walter was pretty pissed about this and said that he is taking legal action. He also had major bitches about Ernest Emerson. Apparently, both companies owe him money and are not the best about paying.
