The rings that come with it are for the normal "tip-off" rails machined into most 22 receivers.

I have a Simmons .22Mag scope on my Ruger 77/22. I have been happy with it and the price is reasonable. It is a 4x scope, which is all you need for a .22, and is available through Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc.

What kind of magnification are you looking for? I've put a BSA 3-12x airgun scope on my Savage MKII - works great. It's not sub $50 - but you should find one for around $70. I'd check some of the scopes on the walmart web site.

Pretty much anything made for a pellet rifle (spring powered).
Most of them have way more kick than a .22

The absolute best .22 scope for the money is Nikon's ProStaff .22 Classic 4X that comes with a superb set of rings for grooved receivers, but it's twice what you are wanting to spend. Huge eye relief, outstanding optics.

I have a tricked out Ruger 10/22 with a 3-9x40 Bushnell scope from Walmart and it works fine!

I would suggest getting one with thin cross-hairs, just to increase your ability to see the target. With a .22, there is minimal to no kick and within short ranges(typically reaching out to targets no further than 100-150m, although the round will travel for about 1.5 miles if shot into the air). The other thing is that with the light weight bullets, they are really affected by the wind, and is essentially falling (with regards to trajectory) and losing energy making it very difficult to be accurate at great ranges.

The thing is, you do not need to spend alot of money on a scope for a .22lr. Get what is within your price range (personally not over $50) and get to shooting and enjoying your .22lr!

I have a Simmons Pro diamond 2X ($40 used) on my T-Bolt that works good but for 50 bucks, you aren't going to get much.

You can get a used scope on Ebay pretty cheap if you want to go that route.

I use the Center Point scopes from Wal Mart on several of my .22's. Great scope for around $70.00.

+1 on the 3x9 bushnell scope as they are a lot of scope for the money. Simmons scopes are also really good for the bucks. I bought a 3x9x40 bushnell scope for my sons 270 Win back in the late 80's and he still hunts with it and has killed everything he's aimed at with it.

I might get a BSA 22 Sweet 3-9x40. Those are good scopes and are $40+. The Bushnell P-22 are also good scopes but they are like $150-$200. The Centerpoint 3-9x32 from Walmart are also good scopes and I think they cost$58 online.
