I'm a huge fan of both, but I'd give the edge to the M-1 Carbine. Holds more rounds, and you can hit and take out at over 100 yards. Not the greatest, most powerful weapon of WWII and Korea, but I'd rather engage at a distance instead of letting them get close enough for a pistol, even if that pistol's .45. Best off, having both. I keep a .30 carbine in my travel trailer. I think it is a great rifle, for what it was built for.

Question............Are the earlier 30 carbine missing the bayonet lug under the barrel?
