High Standard Supermatic Trophy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just visited the High Standard facility here in Houston, TX and came away with a beautiful new Supermatic Trophy pistol.

High Standard's Houston operation had received some bad press when it began its initial operations in the 1990's. Not because of manufacturing issues with their pistols, but because of the previous operations of Mitchell Arms and Ft Worth Firearms who had been marketing High Standard lookalikes of inferior quality. A lot of people confused these pistols with the Houston pistols; in fact, High Standard Mfg still occasionally receives Mitchell pistols in for repair - which they return. There were some cosmetic problems with the early Houston pistols, but they have certainly been corrected if this pistol is any indication.

This is the Supermatic Trophy Military with the 7 1/4" fluted barrel. It is a continuation of the "numbered series" 1973-75 guns, this one bearing sn# 2602392. This particular gun has a nicely polished stainless steel frame, with polished blue barrel and slide. Trigger and operation controls are gold plated. Grips are nicely grained and finely checkered walnut. The front and rear grip straps are finely stippled. Two traditional red-bottom magazines. Micrometer adjustable saddle-mounted rear sight.

While I was at the plant, I saw the test targets fired with the 10x pistol at 25 yds... 10rd groups around 1/4". These pistols shoot! In fact, shooters using High Standard (Houston) pistols won gold medals in the 2000 Olympics.

I cant decide whether to sell this one or not...
