Default Old court ruling

Back 15-20 years ago, there was a court ruling on the constitutionality of a federal school zone law. A court ruled that once a item (weapon) was in the possession of an end user, commerce ended, and the feds had no jurisdiction to regulate the use past that point. I never heard were this went on appeal. Anyone remember the case and how it played out?
