Anyone know of any good .22 conversions for an AR-15? I've read a bunch of bad reviews in various magazines, so I'm thinking that this would probably not be the best way to get a .22. Is there anything good out there, or would I be better off crowding my safe with another long gun? (Either way my wallet will be empty, but I'll have a big s**t eatin' grin on my face) .

Thanks,
Evan

Although I have no experience with it the Ciener unit is supposed to be good, but for about the same amount of money you can get a ruger 10-22 and that can be souped up down the road if you want to.
I would go with a 10-22 myself.

Ski,

The Ciener kit is the best, I've had mine for about
9-years without one failure, I like it because I can
still have the feel of my AR but yet shoot at a
lower cost however, after shooting .22's in the
AR, be SURE to clean it and remove all barrel
leading as this will cause excessive pressure
build up when you fire .223/5.56 ammo after
using .22-L.R. That is very important as it
can be dangerous to you and the firearm!

If you don't own any other .22's then I would
suggest what Jeep has suggested, nothing
like having a nice 10/22.

i saw a great write up about a conversion by victor arms. it completly replaced the upper reciever. it was made by cz i think. i tried contacting the company just after the write up but the phone was disconnected and i was unable to get another listing through the phone company. a web site was listed as victorarms.com but was still unavailable last time i checked.

Thanks for all of the information everyone. I think I'm just going to keep the AR shooting .223, and pick up a nice used 10-22. I borrowed my friend's a little while ago, and forgot just how much I like them.

Thanks again,
Evan
