Default DEFENDER is what it says

How do you do, sirs/ma'ams

This from my neighbor. Would it be a Hopkins & Allen, or perhaps Iver Johnson? I think it may be a calibre .32 rimfire.

Many thanks.

Thank you, Mr. James.
May I inquire as to whether you have any thoughts on its worth?

Actually it is a Johnson and Bye Defender. Mr. Bill Goforth is the real expert on Iver Johnson's. I have his book open in front of me, but rather than confuse the issue I will let him expound on the subject. These were inexpensive fire arms ( Small frame does not even have rifling), selling when new for two or three dollars. I will let Bill make any guesses on the current value. He will check in shortly.

Wow! Thank you, Mr. Goforth.
I deeply appreciate your information. I'll pass on the information to my neighbor, a new widow of 85+ years.
