Any advise on how to keep a nice walnut grip looking new? Is there such a thing? Should I use oil, and if so, what kind? Actually thinking about removing and installing cheap aftermarkets, just to keep the nice ones nice.

most of the time i take remoil and spray down the grips and wipe off the excess, like i do the rest of my guns.
depending on how the gun was going to be used i would probably take the grips off and wipe on a coat of paste wax inside and out, let it dry and buff with a soft cloth. on checking i would apply with a soft toothbrush and then buff with a shoe shine brush. this type of wax is good to protect fine furniture, dont see why gunstocks/grips would be much differant. |

friend uses a product called Blue Wonder, seems to work good for him. I only have two guns with wood grips and neither is a show piece, so a little wipe down with the Hoppe's Stock rag is just fine.

Petroleum oils should not be used on wood. They penetrate the wood and soften and discolor it. Paste wax is fine.

Tung oil or boiled linseed or furniture paste wax.
http://www.bwccompany.com/ I prefer the linseed, lightly wipe on and then wipe off the excess.
