I was wondering what year the H. & R. Arms Company made the trapper model 22 cal rimfire hand gun. It has a octagon barrel about 8" long. I was wondering when mine was made and if you could tell from the S/N 183xxx and about how much it is worth? It is in verry good shape and the bluing looks good too.
If you have any info that will be helpfull to me contact me in Wa state e-mail: bost.robert@cvn72.navy.mil Thanks

Welcome ringokidz,
The Trapper was the short-barrel version of the H&R Hunter. It is a 7-shot, 22 cal revolver with a 6" barrel. The Hunter was 9-shot w/10" barrel. Don't know the dates of manufacture, but in VGood condition it may be worth $150; $300 if you have a Hunter. FYI - The purpose of this site is to share information. Replies, therefore, are posted here - so all members may benefit.

TRAPPER SMALL SOLID FRAME DOUBLE ACTION .22 RIMFIRE--1924-1941
7 shot cylinder capacity, pull pin cylinder release, blue finish only, 6 inch octagon barrel only, two piece oversize walnut grips, Marked “H&R TRAPPER” on top strap. After 1930 listed in catalogs as: TRAPPER MODEL 722 SMALL SOLID FRAME DOUBLE ACTION .22 RIMFIRE 7 shot VALUE: 100%=$365 60%=$175 the trapper is a variant of the model 1906 small frame double action revolver and shared the same serial number series. there are no known factory serial number records for this and other pre 1940 H&R handguns. the lowest number i have recorded for a ''trapper" is 108999 and the highest is 182482, so this one is going to be manufactured in the late 1930's. bill

I have a H & R rim fire with "TRAPPER MODEL" stamped on the top. The serial # is 184141. I've been hoping to find information on this particular pistol and it's approximate age and value.
