Some folks have been unhappy with the triggers on thier Savage and Marlin rimfires, especially thier 17's. You can have the stock triggers worked on, or contact Rifle Basix and get a fine replacement trigger for about $75 that will adjust down to 1.5 lbs. The Savage triggers are available now and the Marlin triggers will ready by the end of the year, according to Bob at Rifle Basix. 704-566-1939 or link their website through the go go varmint website.

I do not know if my triger has been replaced or not, I bought my Marlin 917v used, my triger pull is 3 pounds, and no creep.

I have heard good things about Basix triger upgrade.
