I know a guy who is very keen on martial arts, he's an instructor in Karate and Thai boxing. He never rated Systema, until he went to a display of it's technique, and spent most of the day on his back.

Been invited to train,
Have friends that own three dojo's in coos county. They know i'm an open handed fighter, And think this might be right up my ally. Been thinking about it. Last thing i trained in was akido.

Is I was pretty sure it was a martial art, just not sure which, I could be mistaken but I'm thinking it is the one where there are multiple attackers, suprise senarios and what not?

Looks like you're using part of their attacking force or momentum against them.

I've been wanting to try this one, but haven't been able to find an instructor. I hear it's great stuff, though.
I'm also looking for a Krav Maga school, which will probably be easier to find! I've been a martial artist since I was 12, and of the arts I've actually been able to train in I prefer Jeet Kune Do.

Actually Max, i believe the Israelis are incorporating
systema in there training. SabaShimon is going to ck for me when he has the duty. He does Krav Maga.

Excellent info, Kutaho. I hadn't heard about that. One of the things I like about Krav Maga is that it is constantly improving itself, the way Jeet Kune Do is supposed to.

Did some Systema in the army. Its what the Russians use as a martial art, but its not really a martial art the way karate or judo is. Its more like useing everything and anything to take out your opponent. Our teacher would say stuff like hit him with anything, whatever you have, rock, ashtray, helmet. If you're sitting get up and use the chair as a weapon. Trip, choke, poke out eyes, throws, anything. But that was when I was young and skinny!

Yep, that's a martial art in my book! Some types of training are just more "martial" than "artistic."
My Jeet Kune Do instructor was a Vietnam veteran, Special Forces. Needless to say we had intense classes that were very much combat oriented.
